To read the documentation you need Adobe Acrobatª reader availableat the following URL:http://www.adobe.com/Software/Acrobat/To get this file onto your windows box, you'll need a utility likeunmacit available at the following URL (and probably others):ftp://ftp.csusm.edu/pub/winworld/compress/unmacit.zipTimeTally!==========A Newton application that sums up times from your Newton"Dates" calendar. Written by Tony Copping Signature Software Ltd. tonyc@internode.net http://www.internode.net/~tonycWhy use TimeTally!==================1) If you got into consulting so that you wouldn't be punching a clock, rest assured that this thing uses NO TIMERS!2) If you find the dates application acceptable for entering your consulting time info (I used to track times on a note pad before I got the Newton, and using the dates app is pretty close to the same method). TimeTally will only tally up the info which matches the pattern you describe.3) If you hate adding up time (let's see...8:00 to 10:00...that's two hours...plus...).4) If you like having memory for other stuff (this uses just 25k).Release History===============1.1 Feb 11 '96 Upgrade release - Restructured client records (now stored in soup). Sorry, but this upgrade will hose your client list. Future updates will not. - Client records now store the tally information, so the invoicing period for each client is maintained. I also use this feature to keep phantom clients for tallying daily info for each client. - "Start Date:" header is now a popup allowing you to select either start date or end date. Thanks to Kirk Keller for the idea. - there is a lock button on days allowing you to select your durations using any combination of start date, end date, and duration. - the tally has been made more efficient using query flags. Much faster for those of you who like to keep a lot of old date soup lying around. - REVISED DOCUMENTATION!1.02 Jan 04 '96 Bug fix - NOT RELEASED - Fixed problem with Newton 2.0. As I don't have Newton 2.0 roms yet, I have not been able to make it compatible with landscape mode (no crashes, just won't work).1.01 Oct 31 '95 Bug fix realease. - Fixed problem which would cause an error alert if there was any digital ink in the calendar.1.0 Oct 26 '95 Initial ReleaseHow does it work?================= You define a simple pattern which TimeTally looks for at the beginning of each entry in your Newton calendar. If it finds a match, it will add the duration of that entry. So to use it, you define a project code format unique to a client (saved in your preferences) which may match a number of individual project codes. You pick a starting day, and a duration, in number of days, and Tally!Example:======== I enter a pattern of "K???" in my preferences. I record all work done for client K in the dates application as project codes like "K001", "K163" etc. followed optionally by a description of the work performed. To ease input, I've added the particular project codes I use into the user dictionary. At the end of a pay period, I open TimeTally, select the start date and duration of the pay period, click "Tally!" and I'm ready to make up an invoice. I know it would be nice to automatically print or fax an invoice and so on, but my invoices have a company logo and stuff on them (plus don't forget reason #4 above). You mac users might want to have a look at the future enhancements section below. :-)SHAREWARE=========Please feel free to redistribute this software on the condition thatall files in the package (ReadMe, License, and TimeTally.pkg) areincluded.Use freely for up to 30 days. If you use it, please send $5.00,your name address and email address (Canadian funds are fine, but hey, US$ are good these days, too)to:Signature Software Ltd.91 Margate Place N.E.Calgary, AlbertaT2A 3E4CanadaCanadian residents please add $.35 for the G$T. :-(Registered users who give me their email address will receive (by email)a version of TimeTally that allows you to enter multiple patterns fortracking time allocated to multiple clients. Select from a pop-up anddo the tally. Also, that standard shareware guilt-trip dialog won't keepbothering you.Registered users are also entitled to free updates to all future sharewarereleases of TimeTally! Future Enhancements:==================== A Macintosh "attachable" application which receives data from the Newton and executes your own custom AppleScripts which take the data and plug it into your favorite scriptable Mac application. A better method of defining time codes. I think I should be able to let you enter a list of project codes for each client, and attach that list as a recognition dictionary to the dates application, thus using some "Newton Intelligence" to produce desired behavior. Initial testing has proven this task to be non-trivial. Selection by dragging a range in a calendar. This will need to be implemented in such a way as to allow large selection ranges which cross month boundaries. Other enhancements as described by you users out there (payment of the shareware fee is a good incentive).Thank You=========Thanks for taking the time to look at TimeTally!Enjoy!
